Greetings fellow SatAM fans! My (screen) name is Stannis Acorn, first of his name. As you can guess, I am a big Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire fan, but as I approach the age of 30 (a little over a year from now), I find myself growing nostalgic for the shows from my childhood (late 80s-mid 90s). Moreover, I've also come to realize that my tv/movie library weighs too heavily in the dark and brooding direction, so it's time to inject some optimism to even things out. I have since added SatAM and some of the Disney Afternoon shows (Talespin, Rescue Rangers, DW Duck, and Gargoyles).

Like many here, I too grew up watching SatAM on ABC and enjoying the heck out of it. In fact, it's the only show from ABC's Saturday lineup that I even remember. However, my memory had faded until I watched the Nostalgia Critic a few weeks ago. He reminded me of all the things I enjoyed about SatAM (the sci-fi setting, the characters, the animation). Thanks must also go to Knothole Resident for alerting me to this site's existence.

There's another reason my enjoyment of SatAM has been rekindled: hometown loyalty. What do I mean? No doubt most here are familiar with Jim Cummings and his amazing library of voice roles, but what you may not know is that he hails from the former steel town of Youngstown, Ohio, which also happens to be MY hometown. Even more awesome is the fact that he attended the same high school as me and my siblings: Ursuline High School (also the alma mater of Ed O'Neill). As you can imagine, the fact that the man who voiced half of the characters from my childhood came from my hometown AND my high school fills me with immense pride. Plus, it's nice to find someone notable from Youngstown who hasn't given the area a black eye like so many others (Jim Tressel, Eddie DeBartolo Jr, various mobsters).

Hey, welcome! I think you'll find yourself in a similar boat to most of us - the average age around here seems to be mid-late twenties, all folk who discovered SatAM at an early age and fell in love with it all over again when going back for a nostalgia trip. I'm a big Gargoyles fan too.

Having gone to the same school as Robotnik is pretty nuts! Should track him down and see if he has any yearbook photos from there or something.

Interestingly, I am very sure some of my best friends' parents went to school with Jim Cummings so I've asked them to search through old yearbooks. BTW, Ed O'Neill also graduated from Ursuline, so my alma mater has some pretty distinguished alumni.
