Chaos City

Unfortunately, shooting fire at an already flaming zombie is merely an exercise in futility. To give Eggman credit, he actually DID melt away most of Knuckles' remaining brains into slag with his plasma gun, but a mindless zombie generally doesn't care about things like that, so Z Knuckles continued on, with one flaming fist punching the plasma gun into a folded-accordion shape.

Sonic, meanwhile, was still being attatcked by Chaos, so he wasn't able to either mourn for Knuckles or jeer at Eggman at that moment. Instead, he was whirling up a super-fast tornado around Chaos, turning the water spirit into a typhoon and drastically raising the humidity level. The swiftly flying water also shorted out the Egg Worm's plasma cannon and doused Z Knuckles' flames, which didn't make ANYONE present the least bit happy except for Sonic.

Hey! It's a plasma gun! Not a flamethrower! It should have cut through the fire! Bah!

"Fine, I'll just use one of my bigger weapons. I didn't want to go overkill but I guess I'll use my... missiles? No, those never work. Although this guy isn't moving particularly fast, and the pulse cannon is on a cool down timer so I'm not wasting ammo. Pulse cannon it is! Get ready to be evaporated you Deteriorating Tachyglossidae!"

*Eggman fires screen clearing pulse cannon at Zombie Knuckles*

What Eggman didn't realize, but Chaos knew, was that Z Knuckles still had the Chaos Emerald inside him. Unfortunately, Chaos was currently splattered all over the place and couldn't really act, so when Eggman let out his awesome blast of fury, Chaos was unable to go for the emerald.

The blast of fury worked. Z Knuckles was pretty much obliverated, but at least the emerald was still in existence. Sonic jumped out of the way barely in time, almost slipping on a puddle that had once been Chaos's right shoulder.

"So long, Knux," Sonic muttered sadly, staring at the smoking pile of ashes surrounding the Chaos Emerald. Chaos Emerald... suddenly Sonic realized something very important. With Knuckles dead and gone, who would protect the Master Emerald from Eggman?

"Way to stick me with your stinkin' job, Knucklehead!" Sonic muttered, certain that even in death, Knuckles had found a way to keep hating him.

"Oh? What is this? A Chaos emerald? Don't mind if I do!"

Presses button activating grabby hand and snatches away emerald.

"I can defiantly use this for... something."

All the thoughts in Sonic's head suddenly fused together, manifesting themselves in the single idea that Eggman must NOT get his hands on the Chaos Emerald.

Obviously, the very first thing Sonic had to do was destroy whatever that uber-destructive wipe-the-slate-clean machine was that had dematerialized Z Knuckles, which was exactly what he did. At lightning speed.

Unfortunately, he had forgotten that Chaos's liquid body was splattered all over the place, and just as the smoke was spouting out of the device like Sonic's own witty banter, it obstructed his view of where he was going, and he slipped in a puddle, slammed into a tree, and knocked himself out cold.

If Knuckles could have seen that, he'd have facepalmed himself.

"Well... I think I'll just leave now."

Eggman goes back to his fortress with Emerald in toe to create a brand new weapon utilizing the power of the Gem

Luckily for Sonic, Eggman couldn't see him in the smoke. Therefore, Sonic could be unconscious and miserable in peace.

By the time Sonic woke up, it was about midnight. The moon was high, and Sonic was secretly glad that the Dark Gaia wasn't currently active, or else he'd have been a werehog again. Werehogs made him think of zombies, which made him think of...

"KNUCKLES???" Sonic was stunned to see what appeared to be a floating apparation of his deceased friend, if FRIEND wasn't too strong a word. Without speaking, the phantom waved one spiky hand and transported Sonic instantaneously to Angel Island's emerald shrine.

Sonic had a million questions to ask, but there was only one answer. He had to still be asleep... right? But he wasn't, and Phantom Knuckles was still there, strangely silent but scowling angrily at the hedgehog.

FIND THE EMERALD, Phantom Knuckles seemed to be saying. THE MASTER WILL LEAD YOU TO THE SERVER. And then P Knuckles added, AND FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, DON'T LET EGGMAN WIN!

Then he was gone, and Sonic was still wondering if he'd imagined the entire thing... except for the fact that he was still firmly set on Angel Island, and the Master Emerald seemed to be staring him in the eye, glaringly obvious even in the dark night.

its been a while since i joined a roll play so im gonna join and be shadow ok?

shadow who a few hours ago was watching TV now had his mind set to finding sonic.

shadow for no reason got the idea that sonic was on angle island and headed off to find him.


when shadow finally arrived on the island he caught a glimpse of something blue standing near the master emerald.

shadow ran up to the blue figure and and realized that it was sonic

shadow tapped sonic on the back

"Whats up..why you here at this time of night?"

[Ze Nuvakat]

"Huh?" Sonic jumped a little. "Oh, hi, shades. Well... I was kind of..."

Sonic didn't know how to break the sad news about Knuckles to Shadow, so he just said, "Knux wanted me to protect the Chaos Emeralds for him, but Eggman got one. Now I'm wondering what to do, because I can't both go after the missing emerald AND guard the Master for him." There was a catch in his voice -- he still didn't want to tell Shadow that Knuckles was a ghost now, especially since Sonic himself had failed to be fast enough to save Knuckles.

P Knuckles found all this amusing. JUST TELL HIM I DIED, YOU FOOL! IT'S NOT LIKE SHADOW OF ALL MOBIANS IS ANY STRANGER TO LOSS!

shadow looked at sonic

"is there something you want to tell me?"

"oh and at the moment i have nothing to do some if yea want me to do something for yea i can.."

[Ze Nuvakat]

Sonic shook his head. "Just... y'know, could you watch the Master Emerald for me? Just until Knuckles gets back, okay?" Sonic didn't mention that Knuckles was NEVER coming back; by the time Shadow figured that out, Sonic planned to be a million miles away. "I gotta stop Eggman again."

Phantom Knuckles was absolutely furious at Sonic's nerve, but consoled himself with the fact that Sonic would have made a lousy M.E. guardian anyway.

Meanwhile, at Eggman's base, the Chaos Emerald that had been Knuckles' began to glow of its own accord, assembling an aura of flames about it...

shadow shrugged sitting down on the ground guarding the master emerald

he self felt like something was unusually strange that day.....

"what could it be..." shadow wondered before going back to his guarding duty

That was when Phantom Knuckles came out of the Master Emerald, right in front of Shadow.

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU FELL FOR THAT ONE, said P Knuckles, blunt as always.

Tails flew in to save the day.
