Is SatAM fandom dying?

I think it's safe to say it's mostly because forums aren't that popular anymore, people are so active on social media sites and places like wikia that many probably don't even search out for forums anymore. That's how I see it, anyway.

It's really kind of sad to me that everyone here seems to think the fandom is slowly dying out and that there are statistics to prove it, even.

I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but it does seem like things have slowed down a great deal here since I've been gone.

I'd like to thank Porpoise Muffins for keeping this place up, so that folks here can stay in touch. And, at least if this place is still alive and kicking, then there's always the chance for a revival! You never know!

To be honest, I really don't understand why this awesome community wasn't able to successfully make the transition to Social Media, and have a presence there that's not just as dead as these Forums have become.

I think it's a real shame and waste of a very good thing, TBH, that nobody has made that happen, because I think a big part of why this fandom is dying is by not being able to change with the times in some sort of meaningful way.

I still think Forums are very fun and engaging, and much better organized than most social media, where all topics of discussion are merely clustered together in the walls and newsfeeds, with no rhyme or reason given to them. Which is why I think it's possible that this place could have a revival, because even the layout of a Forum has a nostalgic quality that you simply don't get in today's ADD style of Social Media, where everything is in Tidbits, and Memes, with more arguments rather than meaningful discussion. I say, why not Bring Back the Forums? Instead of accepting this slow Demise of our Fanbase, why not start some sort of Revival? I wish somebody could start a Meaningful presence for Sat Am on Social Media, and then for the sake of Nostalgia, steer people back into the Forums again.

That would sure be a Heck of a lot better than just letting it die and doing Nothing about it. What do you guys think?

I never stopped being a Sonic SatAM fan at any point. I did go away for a while, however, because it was difficult for me to keep having discussions about the same 26 episodes over and over again. I guess burnout would be the correct word to describe the issue. Maybe others feel/ have felt the same way? Long-running series's (DC comics, Marvel comics, modern Sonic games, etc.) are always coming out with new content to have discussions about. The closest thing SatAM has besides fan fiction are the Archie comics (those are gone now, though IDW comics will be publishing sonic comics in 2018), and even those are different enough to be considered a separate entity.

With that said, however, my burnout phase is over, and I'm interested in seeing how my opinions on this series are different now compared to when I was younger (I think it was 3 years since I last saw an episode of SatAM). A revival would definitely be awesome. However, so long as there's at least one person whose interested in having discussions, I'll enjoy myself here.

And that would be one of the reasons why the fandom appears to be dying - that and what some people already mentioned: There is little interest out there, and few new fans.

There is one new little fan, though: I got my nine-year-old daughter into the series recently. StarzEncore is showing it around 4 pm Monday - Friday, prime time for school-aged kids.

Very grateful I found this site and got to learn a few things. I hope the owner keeps it up for many years to come.

By the way, I'm new here. I'll post a proper introduction in the proper place eventually.

Dang, and the Brony fandom asks itself that question at the end of every season. Welp, I'll say here what I say there: a fandom can only die if it's members let it. I guess it's easier for me to say that, since I'm young and fairly new to the scene, while others have been a part since before I was born. But I still plan on engaging here. The best way to keep these kinds of things alive is to talk about them.
