I'm a big anime snob...I mean fan! Yes, just a fan who's kind of picky...a lot.

There are a lot I like, really, but I love Fullmetal Alchemist (manga), Mushi-shi, Slayers, Trigun, Gankatsuou, Ouran High School, Gurren Lagann the most.

Right now (literally) I've been watching Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture...it's about a student attending an Agriculture College in Tokyo, but he can see microbes, so he's been recruited by a micro lab. It's incredibly odd, but really funny, particularly if you like cute anthropomorphic creatures, biology and/or fermentation (and it's only 10 eps). Weirdly, Funimation's licensed the live action version and is showing in on Hulu and their own site, but not the anime.

I've read a fair amount of manga in my time... my favorite is probably Dragon Knights, a fantasy manga about... well, it's hard to describe what it's about. It's as complicated as all get-out. It's funny, though!

I've been watching voltron on netflix lately. It's still a pretty fun show after all these years. Power Rangers totally ripped that off.

There's a fair few anime movies that I've seen and enjoyed, but the only franchise that's consistently made me do a double-take and just think "Holy crap, this is awesome" has been the Ghost in the Shell series. The two full-length movies are masterpieces of the art form no matter how I approach them, especially the first -- just feels timeless. After watching both series of GITS: Stand Alone Complex, I can say I think it's just as good as the films, though in a different way.

The museum scene in the first film is one of my favourite movie scenes ever.

I grew up around the time anime started being ported to my cable provider, and I've been addicted to it since. I've only recently been getting into all that anime that was never brought over here, even getting used to having to read subtitles (Which I find are annoying) and I was just wondering three things:

1: Does anyone at SMS (Essentially a site formed on a Western-born cartoon) have an interest in anime?

2: I like looking for new things to watch since there's barely anything on cable anymore, so anyone got any recommendations?

3: What's everyone's (Thus far) favorite anime?

Personally, I love Deathnote over most anime that's translated in English, I might go look up the original Japenese version to see the differences, and Stormy Night is a really touching movie I came across last year. It's a shame there were two moments in that movie that would make it inappropriate for children to watch because I love the message behind it. (All the Miyazaki movies are pretty good too, though I haven't actually seen them all yet and it's been a while since I've seen the ones I have...)

Also personally, I've never liked the "Sci-Fi" anime, the stuff about giant fighting robots (Gundam... Well SD Gundam was a trip so...) or space ships (Cowboy Beepbob) have always bored me. Probably because I don't like Star Trek or anything Sci-Fi related and I tilt to the mythology and magic side of the fantasy spectrum, but I have a few exceptions to that (Ghost in the Shell because a boyfriend of mine loved it, Tenshi (Spelling? And I mean the uncut version) because it's just hilarious) though generally if it involves too much sci-fi, I steer away from it, though the few episodes of Dot Hack Sign I saw were good.

Sorry if I get any names wrong, I have a difficult time keeping up with a lot of them since I concentrate all of my language skills on writing good English. Corrections are pleaded for pathetically.

(Also, since this is a Sonic board, I feel I should mention that I hate Sonic X with a passion that burns brighter than the most bulbous of red giants in the night sky, so while I like a lot of anime, that isn't one of them. )

Huh. I couldn't find one in the search, sorry if I made a duplicate.

Although the search only came up with posts and not threads... That might be why there seems to be an issue with this, at least from what I've noticed... If you ever manage to find it, I'd appreciate a link to it so I could request this one be locked.
