The SatAm 'brain in a jar' concept, as already stated, felt a bit too morbid for my liking (though I liked her gaining of mannerisms after too much interaction with Sonic, which did at least make it into the finished episodes).

The comics had an interesting idea, giving her a holographic form, her design is cute as well, the big problem however is that she almost as little personality and spotlight time as she did as a chuck of metal. She appears solely to materialize some sort of assistance to the Freedom Fighters and then toodles off, she feels more like Ian's little short cut for the plot rather than some interest in making her more of a real character.

Nicole did lack the personality as a living breathing life form more then she did as a handheld pc.

Keep in mind she's still the same Nicole as the handheld. She's just acquired a body, and she's demonstrated earlier that only the body could express emotion (as seen in the issue where she first makes it from the handheld and goes stargazing). I think because we now look at Nicole as a mobian rather than a computer ai that is literally the exact same as what inhabits the handheld. To be fair, in Archie time it's only been a few weeks at the most since she gained a permanent physical form, I think that she just hasn't quite gotten the hang of the more complex facets of the living like emotion and advanced personality traits. She seems lacking in "human character" because we are comparing her to the others, who are real mobians and as sub have developed in personality much more durin their substantially longer lives.
Character-wise, she is a child, having only been capable of emotion for a few weeks. Give her time to learn what it's like to be a physical mobian, and we'll see her gradually close the gap.

A few weeks storywise maybe but It's been almost three years or more since they established her having a physical form in the making. Even if they are limited by story context so far, it's not as if they couldn't at least give her some sort of unique mannerisms in her minor role, heck they could make an amusing persona out of her computer blandness. Her handheld form at least had an over logical binary type mannerisms and naivete, similar to Emerl or Gamma. NICOLE in her holo form on the other hand doesn't even have that, she doesn't seem to be having any problems in her human form or confusion accustoming to their ethics (outside that one brief scene in 178 which I wouldn't call a character saving grace). Her 'lack of humanity' isn't making her unique, it is actually making her more 'normal' and generic acting with no real flaws. She's just a bland plot device. My problem is that she appears solely to give the Freedom Fighters some deus ex machina then shifts out of existance not even gaining some basic unique traits out of any of this, which makes her presence seem extremely cheap.

yea i see were you are going.

i do have to say that if Nicole in lynx form did more with the freedom fighters besides being a handheld (like being sally's side kick etc) she probably would seem more useful.

but unlike Emerl Nicole was not made to be a humanoid robot (a robot or machine that is in the shape of a human or some living thing). so Nicole lacks the human like ability's Emerl has thus making her not really have a big role as a mobian then she does as a handheld.
