Blast to the Past II Script

Postby PorpoiseMuffins on March 4th, 2011, 1:02 am

Recently I came into possession of a signed copy of the Final Blast to the Past Part II script. How this happened is a rather interesting (even heartwarming) story.

Back in November I received an email from a woman claiming to have a copy of Blast to the Past II autographed by Ben Hurst, asking whether I thought the script might hold any monetary value.

Although my interest was piqued, I wasn't in a financial position to make an offer myself, so I suggested that she might find an audience on eBay and could let members of SMS, FUS, Sonic Stadium, Retro, etc. know about the auction to drum up interest.

I also asked how she happened to come to own the script. Here's the really interesting part:

I was a Flight Attendant for Southwest Airlines in the 90's and Ben Hurst was on one of my morning flights that had a light passenger load and we chatted during the flight, he told me what he did for a living and I thought he was very interesting. He signed a script that he had with him and gave it to me.
I just found it the script tonight, while going through some papers, googled his name and found out that he had passed away this past August....!

She thanked me for the information, we exchanged a few more emails, and that was it. I wondered if she might consider making a scan of the script for us to post online in case it got lost after being sold. She said that she would give it some thought.

About a month later, she contacted me again. This time she asked for my mailing address in order to send me "something."

Imagine my surprise when a few days before Christmas I discovered large brown mailing envelope in my mailbox... containing the signed Blast to the Past Part II script, carefully sandwiched inside two manila folders. Enclosed was a Christmas card which read:

    Hello Michael,
I felt a very strong urging to send you this script! So have a Merry Christmas. This is the original not a copy.
    May God Bless,
    ------

I was really touched by her generosity and I wanted to share the script with everyone else. So now that I've finally got it scanned in to my computer, here it is!

Thats awesome of her to send it to you, especially considering she probably could have got a fair bit of money for it.

Thanks for scanning/posting it. I'm looking forward to reading through it.
